Well first of all many women would feel offended by your comments. I have a body like yours but I have been in the position of being “too skinny for peoples’ taste” also. Designers pick skinny models because they are good clothes hangers, and create graceful lines in media, that is all.
There are plenty of fashions for you and me and you just have to be patient and look for them. I don’t mean to offend but:
To me it just sounds like you don’t know your body well enough yet to know insinctively what works on it and what won’t. What helps is to also learn basic sewing and alter dresses to nip in under the bust so you don’t look like you’re wearing a tent
STAY AWAY FROM SKINNNY JEANS!!!!!!
I’m short and curvy also and I’m sick of never finding anything that compliments my figure.
Try tops that flow out a bit near the bottom. Graphic tees are a good idea for t-shirts but beware make sure you have the right size or you will look too busty. Try wal-mart for graphic tees. Jeans are hard to find especially for people like you and me. Trust me I LOOK EVERYWHERE! But wal-mart and target and a few other stores have some pretty good jeans that will fit perfectly. Like I said skinny jeans will give you a big rear-end and small legs. Dresses can compliment a figure alot so try layering and if it’s not what you like then try something different until you are comfortable. Also stay away from denim shorts these will flatten your butt so stay away from the denim shorts. Swimsuits can compliment a figure and make you look cute, so I would suggest a two-piece instead of a one piece.
I hope this helps! I know it’s short but ah well.
oh my gosh! i feel the same way when i read magazines, im very athleteic and have VERY thick srtong legs and big hips.
i like to wear the tops that are toght at the top and get very loose at the bottom, they can show off a rack and they are very cute, they sell them at ancorblue
Preach on, girl! I feel the same way! I love how you embrace your curviness ’cause that’s what it’s all about!
For me, I tend to stay away from skinny jeans and calf-high boots. I tried SO HARD to make them work for me, but in the end, I just had to accept the fact that my thicky thick thighs and calves were NOT going to fit in them!
I also love tops with a slight kimono or flutter sleeve and an empire band just underneath the bust so the rest of the top can float away from my body, not drawing attention to my midsection. Wrap tops are nice, too, because they can be casual when paired with jeans and work-y when paired with slacks or a skirt. (I usually turn to a wrap top or sweater when I go to a job interview.)
Those are just two of my go-to styles because I just love the way they accentuate my curviness! I also live in bootcut jeans, bermuda shorts, and skirts/dresses that hit at the knee or just below it. Although skinny jeans and trapeze dresses may be the “in” factor right now, we can still rock other styles and look just as fabulous, stylish, and trendy!
Good styles for girls that are curvey and are not flat chested like me tend to wear like skinny jeans, tank tops, baby doll shirts, shorts, skirts, lose dresses, and cute t-shirts to show off the curves. Curves are a good thing and you want to be able to show them off. What if you were straight all the way down, it just looks awkward. So you want to buy clothes that lets you show off what you’ve got.
good luck!
Girl where have you been? Curvy women are evertywhere these days. Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce, Tyra, Queen Latifah, not to mention the girl who was on America’s Top Model who has been on every magazine cover and BET. But any way, my measurments are 38 29 38. I am loving the high-waisted slacks that are out now. I also love dressy button down shirts w a cute lacy tank under it and pencil skirts. Sometimes having a big rack means gapping buttons and I hate that. So instead of giving up a classy shirt, I just put a sexy little top on under it. I also love the long sort of fitted type t – shirts with a cute belt. That shows your curves without being trashy. The best advice I can pass on is to always accentuate and be classy. We are working with something and we are the bomb!
have you tried lines such as applebottoms, dereon by beyonce, or the store Torrid? They have great clothes for curvy girls. I shop for my sister who is curvy and their clothes are made for curvy women and look hella good lol!
baby dolls really only work with girls who have a rack!
